This is a miniature horsehair Native American made, very tightly woven basket. It has a lid and a tuft of horsehair as a handle.

The basket weaving pattern was done in a traditional light tan and black horsehair coiled design. It measures approx .5 in tall by 1 inch across.

It is becoming increasingly difficult to find miniature horsehair baskets of quality from either Arizona or New Mexico states as we believe the Art of Horsehair Weaving is a dying art among the younger Native Americans.
