Our Selenite mineral specimens are brought to you from the mines of Santa Eulalia, Chihuahua, Mexico. Our Selenite slabs, chunks, and unfinished wands range from water clear to milky white. Some of them have enhydro pockets, places where ancient water was trapped when the mineral formed. On some of the clear areas you can see rainbows.
The word selenite comes from the Greek language and means moon (or moon rock). It's metaphysical properties open, align, and clears the aura bodies. It is a great mover of energy.
The chemical composition of selenite is CaSO42H2O (hydrous calcium sulphate). It is a variety of gypsum and usually contains other minerals that were trapped in-between the layers of mineral as it formed. Selenite rate a 2 on the MOHS scale. It should not be submersed in water, only sprayed off to clean and allowed to dry in a moderate temperature.
