Our Desert Rose mineral specimens are brought to you from Mexico. These Desert Rose specimens range from single roses to large multiple clusters. The blades and color range from large potato chip mostly white with brown centers, to small rose garden arrangements (white and brown).
The rosette occurs when the crystals form in arid, sandy conditions during the evaporation of salty bodies of water. Gypsum or Selenite roses have well defined edges compared to barite roses. The metaphysical properties of desert roses are gently grounding, clarifies thinking and mental vision, and quiets worry.
They are classed chemically as Gypsum - CaSO4.2H2O. They rate about a 1.5 to 2 on the MOHS scale. The MOHS scale is a mineral hardness scale which ranges from 1 (soft) to 10 (very hard).
